The mix originated in Kananaskis, Alberta, around 1996, in a trailer kitchen at the base of Mt. Kidd. The recipe, inspired by cookbooks handed down through generations, was initially intended as a Christmas gift. Filled with love and good wishes, it brought joy to friends and family. The boys loved both baking and giving it, and that will always be my favorite part.

Our family later relocated to Ontario and faced some tough times, but every year, we eagerly looked forward to making the mix. It started as a simple nuts and bolts blend, delicious but lacking in protein and healthy fats. My boys and I experimented and refined it every year until we perfected it.

Now, it’s the ideal blend of salty and sweet.
